Volunteer Firefighter

Being a Volunteer Firefighter is a great way to gain valuable training and experience, and provides a wonderful service to the Missoula community. This individual receives the training and skills needed to support the Community, by providing essential support to the Missoula Rural Fire District to provide emergency response.  The following is a list of minimum qualifications and commitments to become a Volunteer Firefighter with the Missoula Rural Fire District:

  • Wear a minimum of 50-lbs of firefighting gear for an extended period of time and pass a physical ability test.
  • Read and follow both written and verbal directions.
  • Complete Volunteer training academy.
  • Commit to being on-duty each month and participate in monthly training sessions.
